Have you recently used Google Maps? Maybe you already noticed its new feature from the maps, yes, it is called Street View. What can it do? well, when you browser the maps (of course, on the website of http://maps.google.com) and click the Street View button on the map. You will see a little man icon on the map, and some street view photos will appear when you drag “you” (the little man) on some blue line highlighted roads. These photos just like what you can see when you walk or drive on the road of the Google maps.
The first time I used and I tried the street in front of my house, I could not help but screaming “what the ***”. Not only I could see my house front very clearly from the “street”, but I could see my wife’s car parking in the garage with the door open. Imagine if the photo caught me cutting the grass on the lawn with t-shirt off, hoho. Anyhow, from the photos, you can tell it was taken from last summer and am not sure when Google will update the street view photos (or not). I wish the privacy watch-dog group would have seen this site. I just wanted to see what their reactions are. As for myself, I do not see any problems. Since the street is open to the public anyway. But I was wondering how Google got these photos. From the satellite? I do not think so. Only thing I could think of is to drive a vehicle on these streets and take a snapshot at some seconds frequences.

On the photo, you will see some orientation arrows. Clicking on the arrow, you will see the photo changes just like you are moving on the streets.
Unfortunately not all streets in my living area have the Street View function, otherwise, it will save my gas cost when I want to check out some neigherhood for the house shopping. Very cool feature, guys, it is time to play with it if you have not done so.
