One of my clients reported that they could not open PDF in IE 11. I tested, and found that the screen either went blank or no responses after clicking the PDF links in IE.
I tried a couple of ways, including 1) un-installed and re-installed Adobe Acrobat; 2) updated IE security setting to put these websites into security zone; 3) Enabled the Adobe add-ons; 4) updated the Registry to have a TabProcGrowth entry; but failed.
I by chance opened the IE with Administrator privilege, and could open the PDF files. I concluded that it should be permission cause. I went further and found that the IE Temporary files folder could not be accessed. I believe that it was caused by migrating the user profile.
Resolution: Open IE settings, and click Temporary Files button. Browser to another folder location, and select it. Close the setting tab and restart the IE, it should be okay.
