Just helped a student run C++ project in CodeLite, and then downloaded and installed the CodeLite 5.4. When I created the first workplace and project, I got error message while I tried to debug the first “Hello World” main.cpp file.
The error message was the below, and saying “Debugger exited with the following error string. “No executable specified. use’target exec.’ “”
While in the build output window, I found out there were additional information about some errors.
C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe /c “”mingw32-make.exe” -j 8 -f MAKEFILE
The current directory is invalid.
0 errors, 0 warnings
From there, I figured out there were some issue with our project output files. I remember the CodeLite was installed in the default “C:\Program Files (x86)” directory. But there are some strict security tightness in Windows 7 and 8.
I removed all created WorkPlace and Project, and create new WorkPlace under D: (or any directory on C outside of Program Files folder), and then create new Project. The problem is gone, have fun in programming.
Another similar problem on the same issue, and it turned out the environment variables were not right. To correct, click Setting… then Environment Variables.
Change the Default set to your correct environment variables, for example:
CodeLiteDir=C:\Program Files (x86)\CodeLite
